Don Wilson has been with the Elder Team since November 2016. Don, and his wife Cheri, moved to Sisters in 2014 and quickly discovered that Vast Church was where they felt God wanted them to be. Formerly lifelong residents of the Willamette Valley, Don retired from the Eugene Water & Electric Board, and Cheri from Lane Community College. Don’s formal training was in Landscape Architecture, ( U of O), and he served as Landscape and Grounds Supervisor at EWEB.
Don has served in some lay capacity with the church for many years, primarily in discipleship/mentoring roles, in children’s ministries and as a small group, community group leader. Most recently he served as Deacon at Ekklesia in Eugene. Don is a 6th generation Oregonian. He and Cheri have been married for 38 years. They have four adult children, Tyler, Lindsey,(Rick), Nikki,(Joel), and Greg. They also have three adorable grandchildren, Elise, Lily and James.
When he is not serving with the leadership team Don loves to pursue watercolor painting, reading, hiking and camping ,kayaking, fly fishing, and watching Duck sports with his family and just generally enjoying Central Oregon living in Sisters. He loves reading novels of intrigue and suspense, his favorite author is Daniel Silva and his favorite character is Gabriel Allon. He loves reading and studying the Bible more, his favorite author is God, and his favorite character is Jesus.
